About

Washington International Model United Nations is an international Model UN conference held annually, with day-options for in-person and online delegates. We aim to create a Model United Nations environment where youth feel empowered to improve on essential skills such as research, critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership. Sustainable development is our focus. We aim to not only foster an environment where beginner delegates and veteran delegates can thrive together, but to empower our delegates to utilize their newfound knowledge to be more environmentally conscious and promote sustainability. Our committees will inspire you to tackle the challenges faced in various sectors of sustainability.

Secretariat 2024

  • Jherica Paulino

    Secretary-General

Currently enduring the thrills of Senioritis at Liberty High School, Jherica Paulino is overjoyed to be serving as the Secretary General of WAIMUN 2024! After a shrill Jherica decided to experience her first conference as a freshman, she has learned to love the overwhelming chaos of lively debate, public speaking, leadership, and solving international conflicts. While not being enthralled by school and MUN, you would find Jherica arguing with her twin on frivolous issues, ragefully playing the flute as stress relief, or passed out sleeping on the floor. She hopes that through elaborate debate alliance-making, and resolutions, her swaggalicious secretariat, staffers, and their delegates can cultivate the same unforgettable passion she has had throughout MUN! In her final year of the chaotic and wild Model United Nations, Jherica has been instrumental in each WAIMUN iteration in fostering environmental advocacy and sustainability. She is ambitiously enthusiastic to mold the Washington International MUN conference to reach new heights!

  • Shelby Mallard

    Chief of Staff

Shelby Mallard is an incoming Senior at Liberty High School and is happy to be on WAIMUN sec this year. After attending her first conference, Shelby has been looking forward to taking on more prominent roles in the MUN community. After staffing other conferances, Shelby was drawn to the exciting and fast-paced world of secretariat. She is currently her delegations Head Delegate and has participated in 8 conferences with topics ranging from sustainability to ICJ court cases. She looks forward to bringing an interesting and fresh voice and getting to see the debate in multiple committees. In her free time, she is often hiking and climbing through the Pacific Northwest, hanging out with friends, or reading. Shelby is excited to serve as the Cheif of Staff and can’t wait to help make this the best iteration of WAIMUN yet!

  • Yingfan Bai

    Director General

A sophomore at St. Michaels University school, Yingfan has the utmost honour of serving as the Director General for WAIMUN 2024. Ever since her first MUN conference 3 years ago in Grade 6, Yingfan has grown increasingly invested in the activity. The enticing atmosphere of MUN has inspired her to continue to explore her interests in debate and global diplomacy, and in her role at WAIMUN, she hopes she can do the same for her delegates. Her progression from a five-second speech to the speaker she is today would have been impossible without the support of her friends and the various staff members she has met along the way. When not engaging in deep diplomatic discussion, Yingfan can be found dancing, doing artistic swimming, or hanging out with friends. Yingfan looks forward to meeting all the delegates and sincerely hopes that WAIMUN 2023 will be a weekend full of engaging debate and discussions!

  • Sarah W

    USG of Online Committees

Sarah is a Junior at Lake Washington High School and she is beyond excited to serve as your USG of Online committees in WAIMUN! Sarah began her MUN journey as an impressionable freshman who fell in love with the collaborative debate and the fun MUN Community. Since then she’s attended a multitude of conferences where she’s seen some of the most detailed resolutions to the most questionably titled directives. When she's not preparing for her next MUN Conference, Sarah can be found trying new Starbucks drinks, playing with her two cats, or doing homework while listening to her music playlists consisting of Kali Uchis and Clairo. Sarah can’t wait for another great iteration of WAIMUN!

  • Lucy Dillard

    USG of In-person Committees

Lucy Dillard is a current senior at Seattle Academy and is thrilled to be this year's USG of In-Person Committees for WAIMUN 2023! Lucy has participated in Model UN throughout high school and quickly fell in love with the incredible community and enthusiasm of the delegates, staffers, and secretariat. She had the utmost pleasure of serving on the WAIMUN secretariat last year and is elated to be back this year! Lucy has been a huge MUN fan since she first joined in 2020, but her love for the community skyrocketed after WAIMUN 2022 and she has since been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to return to the wonderful secretariat team. When Lucy is not antagonizing her esteemed Secretary General and Chief of Staff, she can be found screaming Taylor Swift Lyrics and unimaginable volumes and passionately crocheting. Lucy is so excited to see you all at WAIMUN this year!

  • Connor Mau

    USG of Delegate Affairs

Currently in his junior year at Bellarmine Preparatory School, Connor is utterly exuberant to be serving as the USG of Delegate Affairs this WAIMUN 2024! He began his Model UN voyage as a diffident sixth grader, possessing little to no understanding in the operations of international affairs, global diplomacy, or any extent of professionalism. Although unwillingly being introduced to MUN way back when, it wasn’t long until Connor truly fell in love with the environment of debate and discourse the very moment he raised his placard and took part in a one-of-a-kind community, although he has almost lost count of how many conferences he has participated in. Beyond his MUN experiences, of which he credits many of his fulfilling highschool memories to, you can find Connor finishing his favorite Netflix shows, working as a CAD designer for his school’s robotics team, listening to absurdly long Spotify playlists, or spending time with his rambunctious cat named Squid. Above all, Connor wishes a phenomenal experience to all delegates and is truly ecstatic to help make WAIMUN 2023 possible.

  • Michael Xie

Michael is a highschool student currently studying in Vancouver and is overjoyed to be this year's USG of Finance for WAIMUN 2023. After attending his first conference in 2019, Michael’s love for Model United Nations has unceasingly grown. Attending, staffing, and organizing conferences has resulted in memories that he will cherish for a lifetime. Outside of MUN, Michael spends his time practicing and competing in golf, playing the guitar, and reading books. Michael is looking forward to working on WAIMUN and is ecstatic to meet everyone!

  • Elaina Dumaliang

    USG of Conference

Elaina Dumaliang is a sophomore at Inglemoor High School and is absolutely thrilled to be serving as USG of Conference for this iteration of WAIMUN! She began pursuing Model UN in her freshman year, back when she couldn’t tell the difference between a Speakers List and a Moderated Caucus. Since then, she has become a certified MUN enthusiast, and she has no idea what she would do without it. When she isn’t on her MUN hustle, she can be found playing saxophone, or rewatching her favorite show for the millionth time. She can’t wait to see all the delegates advocate for sustainability at this iteration of WAIMUN!

  • Melody Sakiya

    USG of Media

Melody is a sophomore at International Community School and is thrilled to serve as the USG of Media at WAIMUN 2024! Starting MUN as a curious eighth grader, she quickly grew to love the chaotic nature of debate and made it her mission to attend as many conferences as possible. As both an art-fanatic and a MUN-enthusiast, she was more than excited to marry her passions and take on this challenge to make WAIMUN 2024 the most memorable iteration yet. Outside of MUN (almost never), she can be found obsessing over short films, making stickers, and creating craft presents for her friends. As she has met incredible friends at the conference, WAIMUN holds a special place in her heart and Melody hopes all delegates enjoy the unique experience as well. Whether delegates are attending virtually or in person, Melody hopes that all delegates enjoy WAIMUN!
